About Izabela Czajkowska
Izabela concentrates her practice in estate and trust planning, probate, and estate and trust administration and litigation. Izabela also assists clients in planning for disability and special needs. Izabela also handles guardianship proceedings and serves as a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem for the Cook County Circuit Court. Additionally, Izabela has experience with domestic and international income tax and business planning, and corporate and individual tax controversies. She also advises clients on business succession matters, wealth transfer and preservation, and corporate, partnership and limited liability company transactions, including drafting various business arrangements and agreements. Izabela was named as an Illinois Super Lawyer-Rising Star in 2014-2017 in estate planning and probate. Each year, no more than 2.5% of Illinois lawyers are selected by the Super Lawyers research team to receive this honor.
Professional Experience
After graduating from college and earning her BS degree in accounting, Izabela worked as an accountant, where her responsibilities included everything from bookkeeping to tax preparation. Izabela worked on obtaining her Certified Public Accountant license while she was in law school. Izabela's first legal position was as a tax attorney, advising clients on tax consequences of various business endeavors and developing efficient tax strategies for her U.S. and international clients. Izabela broadened her practice to include estate planning and probate as a natural extension of and complement to her tax practice and has been focusing on those areas of the law ever since.
Education
Izabela is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting with high honors and a Juris Doctorate Degree at the Chicago-Kent College of Law. Izabela is also a Certified Public Accountant. She is authorized to practice before the United States Tax Court. Izabela is fluent in Polish.
Personal
Izabela grew up in Poland and came to the United States with her mother, father, and sister at the age of thirteen. She currently lives in Hoffman Estates with her husband and two young daughters. Izabela enjoys biking, running, and reading. She also volunteers her free legal services to the Polish community and serves as a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem through the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services.
